US citizens think the Federal Reserve’s communication strategy and tools need to be adapted, the central bank’s “Fed Listens” programme reveals.

The Fed Listens events were a key feature of the central bank’s monetary framework review. It hosted 14 public events, where it engaged with members of the public, and business and community leaders in an attempt to gain a more nuanced understanding of how monetary policy actions are affecting Americans.

In a report concluding the programme, policy
