Women affected more by job losses in US lockdown – Kansas Fed
Roughly 60% of job losses were to women in the first half of March, researchers find
Women have been disproportionally affected by job losses caused by the Covid-19 lockdown measures, research published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City finds.
In the first half of March, non-farm private payroll employment declined by 713,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Didem Tuzemen and Thao Tran examine the make-up of this decline using data from the BLS and the US Census population survey.
