External factors most important inflation driver, Mauritius survey shows
Survey shows 71% of stakeholders asked believe external environment is most important factor in inflation pattern
Participants in the Bank of Mauritius's latest inflation expectation survey saw external factors as the most important driver of the current pattern of price increases.
Out of 46 stakeholders who responded, 33 ranked external factors as the most important. The core inflation rate in Mauritius increased to 2.6% in April, and 84.8% of respondents expect it to rise further over the next 12 months.
Twenty-two respondents ranked the change in the exchange rate as the second most important factor
