Iranian governor floats plan for new IMF training centre

IMF to give proposals "further discussion"

The Central Bank of Iran's (CBI) governor, Valiollah Seif, has put forward plans for a new IMF regional training centre to be established in Iran.

Seif put forward the proposals during a meeting with IMF managing director Christine Lagarde in Washington, DC, last week. "The proposal was welcomed and put for further discussion," the central bank said in a statement yesterday.

The IMF maintains only a handful of regional training centres worldwide, in Brasilia, Mauritius, Singapore and Vienna. The
