Kuroda says 'premature' end of QE damaged BoJ credibility

BoJ governor considers central banks’ record with unconventional policy

The Bank of Japan's (BoJ) decision to end its first quantitative easing (QE) programme in 2006 was "somewhat premature" and undermined the central bank's credibility, according to Haruhiko Kuroda.

The BoJ conducted QE between March 2001 and March 2006. Kuroda, the current BoJ governor, launched a more ambitious programme when he took office last year.
