BoE and IMF unveil changes in finance and fiscal departments

The Bank of England has appointed Ralph Coates as its new finance director.

Coates joins from Barclays, where he has worked since 2004. His most recent position was as finance director of Barclays' UK retail and business bank. Prior to joining Barclays he was a senior manager at PwC, the professional services firm.

Charlotte Hogg, the Bank of England's chief operating officer, said Coates would bring a "wealth of valuable knowledge and experience" to the role.

He succeeds Warwick Jones, who
