Bernanke says Fed stress tests were a ‘critical turning point’ in crisis
The release of the results of the first co-ordinated stress test carried out by US bank supervisory agencies in 2009 represented one of the "critical turning points in the financial crisis", according to Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke.
"Supervisors' public disclosure of the stress test results helped restore confidence in the banking system and enabled its successful recapitalisation," Bernanke told a conference sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in Stone Mountain, Georgia
