Governor of Bank of Ghana becomes vice-president
The former governor of the Bank of Ghana, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur was sworn in as vice-president of the country on August 6.
President John Dramani Mahama raised some eyebrows when he nominated the sitting central bank governor for the role of vice-president at the beginning of the month. A regional expert expressed surprise at the move, and said questions would be asked about the independence of the central bank when a figure so clearly well thought of in political circles had been in situ
