Seppo Honkapohja, a member of the board of the Bank of Finland, delivered a speech on June 5 considering the changing role of central banks.

Speaking at the Conference on Financial and Macroeconomic Stability in Istanbul, Honkapohja explained the financial crisis that first emerged in 2007 has caused a blurring of the boundaries between fiscal and monetary policy, and as created an additional mandate for central banks to regulate financial markets.
