Central Bank of Ireland governor takes pay cut
Patrick Honohan, governor of the Bank of Ireland, handed €63,324 ($80,889) back to the government, according to the central bank's Annual Report, released today (May 21). The gift meant his take-home pay dropped from last year.
"Governor Patrick Honohan gifted €41,740 under section 483 of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 to the minister for finance from his 2011 emoluments, which resulted in a net remuneration of €234,584 for 2011. In 2012, the Governor will gift a total of €63,324 resulting in
