South Africa must tackle capital flows ‘challenge’, says deputy governor

Lesetja Kganyago, a deputy governor at the South African Reserve Bank, believes the "capital flows challenge" in the country needs "fresh thinking".

Speaking at a conference on March 1 in Magaliesburg, Kganyago said: "Over the medium term, to moderate the real exchange rate, we need fiscal and monetary policy settings that reflect that policy objective and seek to achieve it."

The South African currency has seen a fluctuating exchange rate in recent years. It fell to a two-year low last year
