The Treasury Select Committee on Thursday announced it is launching an inquiry into the new Financial Conduct Authority.

Chairman of the Treasury Select Committee, Andrew Tyrie MP, said: "No institution, however powerful, should be unaccountable. It is particularly important that an institution as powerful as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) should be subject to proper scrutiny. It is with that in mind that the Treasury Committee is launching an inquiry into the accountability of the FCA".
