Tributes pour in for euro architect Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa
A host of public and private sector officials have paid tribute to Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, an instrumental figure in the birth of the euro and a former member of the European Central Bank's (ECB) executive board, who died in Rome on Saturday.
The ECB, the creation of which Padoa-Schioppa was an early advocate for, said the monetary union had lost "a man of reflection, of action, and of vision, fully dedicated to European unity."
