Sir Eddie George at the University of Zurich

SPEECH - The Governor of the Bank of England, Sir Eddie George, gave a speech at the Swiss Institute of International Studies, University of Zurich on May 7.

In the Speech Mr George said he would be willing to cut interest rates further in the UK if there was evidence of a continuing slowdown. He also said he was "modestly optimistic" about the prospect of a US recovery, given the Federal Reserve's interest rate cuts.
