Japan unaffected by Fed decision says Mizuno

Atsuki Mizuno, a member of the Bank of Japan's monetary policy board, said Thursday a Federal Reserve rate cut would not stop a possible Japanese hike.

``It's not as simple as saying a rate cut by the Fed would mean the Bank of Japan can't raise interest rates,'' said Mizuno, who has been the only member of the ten-strong board to call for a rise in July and August.

Japan's monetary policy board is next due to meet on 19 September, the day after the Fed votes on whether to cut its benchmark
