Taiwan's Perng expected to remain as governor

The Taiwanese government is expected to reappoint incumbent Central Bank of China Governor Perng Fai-nan to a second term, it was reported Friday.

An announcement on the appointment of the top central banker is expected to be made before the Lunar New Year, a report in the United Evening News said.

Perng, named to the top post at the central bank in February 1998, is expected to be reappointed for another five years on professional considerations and stability of the government personnel
