Dutch pension funds record heavy losses – DNB

Major pension funds warn they may have to cut payouts unless finances improve soon

Dutch pension funds recorded heavy losses in the first quarter of the year due to the Covid-19 crisis, the Netherlands Bank (DNB) said on April 29.

The sharp falls in equity markets recorded in February and March was a key contributing factor to the decline.  At least two major Dutch funds have warned that they may have to decrease their pensions if their finances do not improve in the near future. 

The assets of Dutch pension funds declined by €111 billion ($122 billion), to slightly over €1
