Venezuela seeks gold return from BoE for earthquake recovery

Interim government and opposition agree to “concentrate efforts” to retrieve reserves held in London

Venezuela plans to focus on retrieving its gold assets held at the Bank of England (BoE) to support the country’s recovery after it was hit by two major earthquakes in June.

Venezuela’s interim government and opposition figures ended their first round of US-backed talks this week, which could eventually establish the terms for democratic elections.
