
AI ‘not there yet’ for reserve management, panellists say
Managers say new technology helps with some analysis but risks remain

Reserve managers have cast doubt on the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
“I don’t think AI will take over reserve management,” one official told a panel at the 2025 Central Banking Summer Meetings, adding that the technology would “have to be very incrementally incorporated into the process”.
A “responsible use of AI would suggest that at some point the human element takes over and simply uses AI as a complement or as an enabler for certain efficiencies to begin”, they explained.
