Podcast: the power of technology in reserve management

In the previous BlackRock podcast, we discussed the macro forces at play that are currently shaping global markets, such as inflation, geopolitics and war.
In this episode, Sylvia Kiesewalter, director at BlackRock solutions, talks about how technology can help reserve managers assess risk, returns and diversification against different stress scenarios.
This year, BlackRock's Aladdin won Central Banking's Risk Management Technology Award. As well as processing trades, the platform allows users to conduct stress-testing to assess past and future portfolio outcomes, Kiesewalter says.
Natural-language processing (NLP) is used to integrate external events into analysis. A key area, Kiesewalter says, in which central banks' technology needs will keep evolving is in relation to climate change. Central banks can also construct their own shock scenarios, to conduct portfolio analysis.
