Kenya publishes draft national payment system policy and law

Payment ecosystem should draw on lessons from India and Brazil, National Treasury says

Kenya’s Treasury, in collaboration with the country’s central bank, has published a draft policy and legislative bill for a new national payment system.

In a public notice published on September 21, the Treasury said the policy “aims to establish a modern, safe, secure, efficient, affordable, accessible and inclusive national payment system that supports seamless interoperability, financial inclusion, innovation, economic growth and Kenya’s integration into regional and global payment systems”
