SBP finds digital payments make up 92% of retail volumes
Mobile banking and e-money wallets dominate Pakistan’s digital payments landscape
Digital payment channels are becoming increasingly embedded in Pakistan’s financial ecosystem and accounted for 92% of retail payments from January to March, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has said.
The SBP’s latest payment systems quarterly review, published on June 25, says: “Digital payment channels (including mobile banking apps, internet banking, digital wallets, and payment cards) have become integral to the country’s evolving payments landscape.”
