Visa to launch payment operations in Syria

Card service provider partners with central bank to integrate country into global digital economy

Visa is to launch operations in Syria and help the country’s central bank build a payment ecosystem that can be integrated with the rest of the world.

In a statement published on December 4, the US card service provider said it had formed a “partnership” with the Central Bank of Syria and the country’s other financial authorities to “implement a strategic road map”.
