Samoa to leave policy unchanged over coming year

Central bank expects inflation to rise temporarily due to effects of Iran war

Samoa’s central bank has said its monetary policy stance will remain unchanged during the current financial year, when it expects inflation to rise above its target level.

The Central Bank of Samoa announced the decision on June 29 and today (July 2) published a report in which it said the decision would apply for the current financial year, which ends on June 30, 2027. Governor Maiava Atalina Ainuu-Enari said via the earlier release that inflation in Samoa was expected to increase temporarily
