Banxico holds rates at 6.5% in end to easing cycle

Board says inflationary risks remain ‘tilted to the upside’, despite recent easing of price pressures

The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) has held its benchmark interest rate at 6.5% in a unanimous decision by its governing board.

In a statement following the decision on June 25, the five-member board said the move was “well-suited” to the macroeconomic environment. The bank had cut by 25 basis points at the last meeting in May, when it announced that the easing cycle that began in mid-2024 would shortly come to an end.
