Paraguay holds rates at 5.5% for fourth time

Central bank expects inflation to remain below 3.5% target over the coming months

The Central Bank of Paraguay has kept its benchmark interest rate at 5.5% for the fourth consecutive meeting.

In a statement following the decision on June 23, the bank’s monetary policy committee said the move was in line with its “neutral monetary policy stance”. It said the geopolitical situation in the Middle East remained a “significant source of uncertainty”, despite the recent diplomatic moves to end the US-Iran war. The bank added that markets were expecting rate hikes by the US Federal
