Indonesia holds as Thailand eases policy

Economists predict both countries’ central banks will aim for looser liquidity in 2026

Indonesia has held rates and Thailand has cut in the middle of a busy week for monetary policy decisions in Asia-Pacific.

The decisions, both of which were announced on December 17, had been expected by economists and marked the final policy decisions of the year for both central banks. They came ahead of decisions later this week by the monetary authorities in Taiwan and Japan.
