ECB maintains stance but Lagarde hints at hawkish policy turn
The European Central Bank kept its policy stance unchanged today (February 3), but ECB president Christine Lagarde hinted it could accelerate its withdrawal of stimulus soon.
Several analysts found Lagarde’s words in the press conference much more hawkish than the policy statement, which some observers said created confusion.
