
BoE’s close rate call: what to watch

The Bank of England is set to unveil its latest rate decision on January 30, in what represents its first “live” policy debate for many months.
After a slew of dovish-sounding speeches by senior BoE officials earlier this month, including governor Mark Carney, markets had begun pricing in a high chance of a rate cut. CME Group’s BoE Watch tool put the probability at 50% on January 28, though it has since slipped to 45%.
