‘Never give up’: Draghi holds final monetary policy meeting

Outgoing ECB president says council issued a call for unity

Mario Draghi told his last monetary policy press conference as European Central Bank president that governing council members largely backed its return to looser policy.

Draghi said journalists should take away the message that there had been a “general call for unity” at the governing council’s meeting. He said that part of the legacy of the ECB under his leadership was that it had constantly worked to fulfill its goals. It had followed the principle “never give up”, he told the press
