The Banque de France’s governor sees tokenised financial assets and geopolitical turmoil to be the primary forces affecting the international monetary system.

In a speech at the Group of Seven’s international monetary system conference on January 6, François Villeroy de Galhau said the incoming French presidency of the G7 would prioritise addressing “global imbalances” but also on delivering progress on “cross-border payments, [non-bank financial intermediaries], cyber security, AI, quantum
