Reports say Japan’s central bank is preparing to state that price growth has hit 2%

Kazuo Ueda has said it is now more important to ensure inflation does not exceed the Bank of Japan’s target, after reports said the central bank was preparing to say that this threshold had already been reached.

Speaking at a conference today (October 6), the BoJ governor said there were risks that Japan’s underlying inflation would exceed the bank’s 2% target due to ongoing price pressures resulting from the US-Israeli war on Iran, artificial intelligence-related demand and the weak yen, Reuters
