Board votes to keep policy rate at 3.75%, citing assessment phase

The Czech National Bank left its target two-week repo rate unchanged at 3.75% at its August 6 bank board meeting.

In a press release announcing the decision, the bank said core inflation has remained just below 3% for eight months, even as headline inflation has remained near its 2% target since January 2024.

The board attributes the gap to accelerating credit growth, debt-financed public spending and a tight labour market with rapid wage growth. It projects headline inflation will average 2% this
