Uniform rate hikes are ‘bad, short-term oriented policy’, researcher says
Although the European Central Bank’s rate hike on June 11 was “defensible”, the institution is suffering from a growing tension between its communications and its policy framework, a new paper argues.
Benjamin Braun, Jens van’t Klooster, Clara Leonard and Eric Monnet were asked by the European Parliament’s economic and monetary affairs committee to prepare an assessment of the rate hike in the context of the committee’s monetary policy dialogue. Their paper was published today (June 23).
