Bloom Raskin says central bank is now “last bulwark” against measures’ inflationary impact

Current and former US officials have joined academic economists in condemning US president Donald Trump’s tariffs and their potential impact on employment and inflation.

Sarah Bloom Raskin, a former vice-secretary of the US Treasury and former governor of the Federal Reserve, tells Central Banking that the US central bank “seems to be the last bulwark against the inflationary impact of these tariffs”.
