Eurozone ‘not in a recession at all’ – Cipollone

ECB vice-president says there is “room to cut”, digital euro work continues and bitcoin is not gold

Pierro Cipollone has said that although the European Central Bank may have been overly optimistic in its growth forecast for 2024, the eurozone is “not in a recession at all”.

In an interview with Reuters on February 6, the ECB’s vice-president said that despite significant levels of uncertainty, there was “room to cut” rates at the governing council’s next meeting in March.
