US president says central bank was right to hold rates in January

US president Donald Trump has reportedly changed his tune about the Federal Reserve’s policy stance, and now believes the central bank was in fact right to hold rates.

News network CNBC reported Trump as saying that he was not surprised by the Fed’s decision on January 29 and that holding rates was the “right thing to do”.

On his Truth Social platform on the day of the decision, Trump had blamed the Fed and its chair Jerome Powell for both causing and failing to stop inflation. The president said
