Bank of Mexico MPC minutes stress high core inflation

Core inflation increased by 6.2% in January and has risen for 14 consecutive months

The Bank of Mexico’s monetary policy committee expressed concerns over high core inflation in its February 10 meeting, according to minutes published on February 24.

“All members mentioned that core inflation continued to increase,” say the minutes. Some members highlighted that it had risen in each of the last 14 months. One member said: “This reflects the persistence of the shocks that have affected it.”
