What events transpired for you to take over as governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP) this year?
I was Secretary of the Budget Administration under three administrations – those of Mrs [Cory] Aquino, Mr [Joseph] Estrada and Mr [Rodrigo] Duterte. Then, of course, [the previous governor of the BSP] Nestor Espenilla unfortunately passed. But we wanted to fill his position right away.
