Trump calls for negative rates and a longer balance sheet term structure

President Donald Trump took to criticising the Federal Reserve again today (September 11), but this time called for negative rates as well as quantitative easing.

“The Federal Reserve should get our interest rates down to ZERO, or less, and we should then start to refinance our debt,” Trump said in the tweet. “INTEREST COST COULD BE BROUGHT WAY DOWN, while at the same time substantially lengthening the term.”
