Ghana to maintain flexible exchange rate, says Addison

Governor confirms he stands by flexible exchange rate despite recent volatility

Ghana will continue to operate its current flexible exchange rate regime, despite the recent volatility of its currency, said the governor of the Bank of Ghana.

Ernest Addison said in a speech on April 23 that the country’s development needs would be better served by a flexible exchange rate regime. The cedi plunged around 10% against the dollar in February and March, before partially recovering in recent weeks.
