Draghi says ECB could further delay rate hike as inflation disappoints
Weaker growth forecast contributed to reduction in central bank inflation forecast to 1.6% in 2021
The president of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi, has said the institution could again delay its next rate hike if inflation remains below target.
“In such a situation, just as we did at our March meeting, we would ensure monetary policy continues to accompany the economy by adjusting our rate forward guidance to reflect the new inflation outlook,” said Draghi in a speech in Frankfurt today (March 27).
As growth forecasts have been revised down across all the advanced economies in 2019
