Fed anticipates higher growth and tighter policy
Policymakers consider latest economic data warrants continuation of gradual policy normalisation
Most policymakers at the January 30–31 meeting of the US Federal Open Market Committee revised upwards their growth forecast, and stressed that the strength of the recovery allows rate setters to proceed with rate hikes in 2018, according to the minutes of the meeting.
“A majority of participants noted that a stronger outlook for economic growth raised the likelihood that further gradual policy firming would be appropriate,” say the minutes, which were published on February 21. In December 2017
