Brazil’s central bank slows pace of monetary easing

Central bank scales back cuts to 75bp with suggestion it will slow pace further moving forward

The Central Bank of Brazil has slowed the rate at which it cuts interest rates at its latest meeting, lowering its bank rate to 7.5%.

In a unanimous decision, the central bank’s monetary policy committee (Copom) tapered the cuts to 75 basis points, from 100bp at the previous meeting, and offered guidance that the size of cuts would continue to decrease.
