Further changes to inflation target could limit future policy space, fund advises

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said there is scope to improve the credibility of Brazil’s central bank through improvements to its inflation targeting framework.

In its latest Article IV consultation with the South American nation, the fund said the possibility of further lowering the country’s inflation target for 2019 was being “debated”.
