Rajan picked as BIS board vice-chair as he calls for global ‘rules of the game’

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan has been elected as vice-chair of the Bank for International Settlements' (BIS) board of directors, the BIS said today (November 10).

Rajan was chosen for the position by his colleagues on the 21-member board after a process of consultation led by Jens Weidmann, the board's recently-elected chair and president of the Deutsche Bundesbank.

The RBI governor fills the vacant vice-chair position on the board, left open when Bank of Japan governor
