BoE MPC member says QE has worked, and exit need not cause turbulence

David Miles, an external member of the Bank of England's (BoE) Monetary Policy Committee, today took on critics of quantitative easing (QE) who claim it is causing asset bubbles, or is ineffective in stimulating demand in the economy – or both.

In a speech at the Global Borrowers & Investors Forum in London, Miles said such views are overly pessimistic, and also contradictory when held simultaneously. Moreover, he moved to reassure his audience that unwinding QE will not have an equal and
