Nigerian president nominates new governor after Emefiele resigns
Tinubu also nominates four deputy governors, despite only one upcoming vacancy
Nigerian president Bola Tinubu nominated a new central bank governor on September 15, as the previous incumbent apparently resigned while under security service arrest.
Tinubu is nominating Olayemi Michael Cardoso, a banking executive and former civil servant, who worked with the president when he was a regional governor. On September 17, Reuters reported Godwin Emefiele had resigned as governor the previous month, clearing the way for a new appointment.
