São Tomé appoints new central bank governor

New government replaces central bank administrative council

The government of São Tomé and Príncipe has removed the central bank’s administrative council and appointed former finance minster Américo Ramos governor.

According to news agency STP Press, the government also appointed Lara Beirão Guadalupe deputy governor of Central Bank of São Tomé and Príncipe, and named three new members of the administrative council.

The decision follows a change of government, after the Independent Democratic Action party won an absolute majority in parliamentary
