Basel: Tiff Macklem, governor of the Bank of Canada, has become the new chair of the Group of Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS), the body that oversees the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.
Macklem succeeds Banque de France governor François Villeroy de Galhau, who stepped down after becoming chair of the board at the Bank for International Settlements.
